and that being all right

And not only that being all right but in fact

that being pretty wonderful

The recent NYT obituary for Yvonne Brill opened with, “She made a mean beef stroganoff.”

Yvonne Brill was a ROCKET SCIENTIST… Yes, a bona fide rocket scientist. The propulsion system she invented is still in use today.

The obit was changed, but you can see the edits via Mrs Easton.

Every time I run there are crows
on or around the big tree trunk
that fell down I don’t know when or how

where sometimes a group of teenagers
come - needing somewhere to be,
I suppose;

not drinking though or smoking pot
(for drugs there’s a bench
in another part of the park)

And the teenagers take
no more notice of me
than the crows

A brief meeting of eyes
A blink
A ruffle of feather

All of us accustomed, perhaps,
to being met with a certain amount
of suspicion
